I am Oak Grove's sustainability engagement and partnerships lead.
I am motivated by the interdisciplinary nature of sustainability and the potential for partnership working to tackle social and environmental challenges. I have more than a decade's experience in leadership roles for sustainability and bring strategic vision, an inclusive approach and enthusiasm for mentoring people and organisations.
Former Head of Environmental Sustainability at the University of Oxford, I set up the University's governance structure for environmental management, led the adoption of Oxford's first Carbon Management Strategy and secured a HEFCE grant to support students carrying out an energy use in 24 hour buildings study in partnership with our team.
I spent many rewarding years working in the charity sector, latterly as Head of Environmental Engagement for Earthwatch, the international research and education institute. I managed the charity’s largest department with team members in the UK, the US and Hong Kong, and oversaw employee engagement programmes working with partners including Shell, Diageo, Barclays, Reed Elsevier and Jaguar Land Rover.
An Associate of The Partnering Initiative, I am currently supporting the Zambia Business in Development Facility. This is part of an international network of hubs to scale up cross-sector partnerships in support of the post-2015 sustainable development goals.
Closer to home, I act as a mentor for the Dotforge Social Ventures Accelerator, supporting social entrepreneurs who want to harness the power of digital technology to realise positive social change.
I hold a BSc (Hons) International Management and French degree from the University of Bath and am an Associate Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). A strong believer in enabling more young people to access ethical volunteering, training and career opportunities, I am a Trustee at Student Hubs. This resourceful and creative charity inspires, connects and supports over 25,000 students across 10 UK Universities to become environmentally and socially engaged citizens for life.
I'm a big fan of running when I have a problem to solve, and have a serious book habit.
I lead Oak Grove's innovation, strategy and growth streams.
I am a passionate advocate of business as a force for good and strongly believe in the power of the customer and the importance of meeting their needs in driving positive change.
I have significant experience in both B2C and B2B markets and have worked with many NGOs. I have delivered many successful consulting projects developing sustainable growth and marketing strategies, bringing new propositions to market and building new business models. I am an expert workshop facilitator with an ability to build strong relationships across organisations. I have worked with a diverse range of clients including British Gas, The Carbon Trust, CfBT Education Trust, Hays, Johnson Matthey, Microsoft, RSA Group, Samsung Electronics, Symantec and United Utilities.
Typical assignments include supporting the development of a new business model for a 'green' innovation for a global materials science business; proposition and venture development for a leading UK water company; and foresight and scenario planning for a leading UK energy company to support a shift in strategy and propositions development.
Prior to setting up Oak Grove, I was a Managing Consultant with Edengene, The Value Engineers and SMT Consulting as well as an Associate Partner at Cello Group PLC. I hold a BSc (Hons) Business Administration degree from the University of Bath and a Professional Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. I also completed the very first Planetary Boundaries online course from the Stockholm Resilience Centre at Stockholm University, achieving the highest 'Champion of the Biosphere' status.
I am an EU-InnovatE 'Future Shaper' working to promote citizen-led innovation to catalyse the shift towards a sustainable Europe. I am also a Trustee at Puzzle Centre, a charity that promotes and delivers early intervention for young children with autism and other communication difficulties and supports families and practitioners through training and outreach programmes.
I speak four languages fluently and am a Swedish national. I'm a keen observer of tech and social media trends and have a strong interest in current affairs including diplomacy, sustainability, economics and politics.
I like spending time with my two boys, watching and taking part in a range of sports and cooking and enjoying good food.
