JennyI am Oak Grove's sustainability engagement and partnerships lead.
I am motivated by the interdisciplinary nature of sustainability and the potential for partnership working to tackle social and environmental challenges. I have more than fifteen years' experience in leadership roles for sustainable development and bring strategic vision, an inclusive approach and enthusiasm for mentoring people and organisations. Former Head of Environmental Sustainability at the University of Oxford, I set up the University's governance structure for environmental management, led the adoption of Oxford's first Carbon Management Strategy and secured a HEFCE grant to support students carrying out an energy use in 24 hour buildings study in partnership with our team. I spent many rewarding years working in the charity sector, latterly as Head of Engagement for Earthwatch, the international research and education institute. I managed the charity’s largest department with team members in the UK, the US and Hong Kong, and oversaw engagement and capacity building programmes working with partners including UNESCO, Shell, Diageo, Barclays, Reed Elsevier and Jaguar Land Rover. An Associate of The Partnering Initiative, I have supported the Zambia Business in Development Facility, an international network of hubs to scale up cross-sector partnerships in support of the post-2015 sustainable development goals. In 2016 I led projects with the UN hosted Cities Alliance and the World Health Organisation. I hold a BSc (Hons) International Management and French degree from the University of Bath and am a Practitioner Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). A strong believer in enabling more young people to access ethical volunteering, training and career opportunities, I am Chair of Student Hubs. This resourceful and creative charity inspires, connects and supports over 25,000 students across seven UK Universities to become environmentally and socially engaged citizens for life. In 2016, I became an independent board member for Soha Housing, a mutual housing association with 6,500 homes in and around South Oxfordshire. I have served on the Personnel and Renumeration and Audit and Risk committees. I'm a big fan of running when I have a problem to solve, and have a serious book habit. |

I am an EU-InnovatE 'Future Shaper' working to promote citizen-led innovation to catalyse the shift towards a sustainable Europe. A former Trustee at Puzzle Centre, a charity that promotes and delivers early intervention for young children with autism and other communication difficulties and supports families and practitioners through training and outreach programmes, I retain an interest and involvement in early years provision as a Governor of my local primary school. I speak four languages fluently and am a Swedish national. I'm a keen observer of tech and social media trends and have a strong interest in current affairs including diplomacy, sustainability, economics and politics.
